Treston DeCoud and freshman running back
Justin Crawford have been named 2014 NJCAA All-Americans, it was announced Tuesday by the national office.
DeCoud earned NJCAA First Team honors after tying for the MACJC lead with six interceptions (third in the nation) in addition to 38 total tackles, two blocked kicks and a forced fumble. His 13 passes defended ranked in the Top 15 in the NJCAA.
The Hammond, La., native also earned MACJC First Team All-State and NJCAA All-Region 23 honors.
A three-star prospect according to 247sports, DeCoud is receiving interest from four-year programs including Baylor, Georgia, Fresno State, Utah State, East Carolina, Louisiana-Lafayette, Jackson State, Grambling and Southeastern Louisiana. He'll sign a national letter of intent in February.
A former three-star prospect by 247sports and Rivals.com, Crawford earned NJCAA Second Team honors after leading the state with 1,551 yards rushing (fourth in the NJCAA) and 14 touchdowns. His 172.3 yards-per-game set a new single-season school record. Crawford added 12 receptions for 306 yards, accounting for 219 all-purpose yards-per-game.
The Columbus, Ga., native rushed for a school-record 338 yards and four touchdowns at Coahoma and also rushed for over 200 yards in three other games during the season.
Crawford was also named MACJC First Team All-State and NJCAA All-Region 23.
The duo give Northwest 104 all-americans in its rich football history and the Rangers have placed at least one player on the all-american team in 28 of the past 30 seasons.
